How to Make Delicious and Easy Apple Pie

Steps to Make Apple Pie


Here are the steps to make apple pie:


1. Make the pie crust dough. Mix the flour, butter, and salt in a large bowl. Use two knives or a pastry blender to cut the butter into small pieces and mix well with the flour. Add cold water little by little while kneading until the dough can be formed into a ball. Wrap the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

4. Take half of the pie crust dough from the refrigerator and roll it thin with a rolling pin on a floured surface. Place the dough over the pie pan and press it to cover the bottom and edges of the pan. Prick the surface of the dough with a fork to prevent it from bubbling when baked.

5. Pour the pie filling over the prepared pie crust dough. Flatten the surface.

6. Take the rest of the pie crust dough from the refrigerator and roll it thin with a rolling pin on a floured surface. Cut the dough into strips about 2 cm wide. Arrange the strips of dough crosswise over the pie filling to form a lattice. Press the ends of the strips of dough to the edges of the pan to join with the bottom pie crust.

7. Mix egg and milk in a small bowl. Brush this mixture over the surface of the pie crust with a pastry brush.

8. Bake apple pie in oven for about 40 minutes or until pie crust is golden brown.

9. Remove apple pie from oven and let cool slightly before cutting and serving.

- Choose sour and crunchy apples for making pie filling. Apples that are too sweet or soft will make the pie filling too wet and bland.

- Don't roll out the pie crust dough too thin or too thick. Dough that is too thin will easily tear and can't hold the pie filling. Dough that is too thick will make the pie crust hard and not crispy.

- Don't fill the pie too full. Pie filling that is too much will make the pie crust wet and not cooked well. Pie filling that is too little will make the pie dry and not aromatic.

- Don't cut apple pie when it's still hot. Let apple pie cool slightly so that the pie filling thickens and doesn't spill when cut. Also, apple pie that is cold will be easier to cut and serve.
